URGENT TECHNICAL NOTICE FOR ALL DRAW SYNTH 2 VERSIONS

Affected versions: 2.0.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.4, 2.0.9, 2.1.0

Severity level: Critical. Basic synthesis functionality is impaired.

DEFECT DETAILS

A fatal flaw has been identified in the envelope generator (ADSR) module firmware.

Specific symptoms:

1. Release Phase Malfunction:
   • When the Release phase activates, the module incorrectly resets its internal state.
   • This causes the Attack cycle for the next note to not start from zero.

2.ADSR State Logic Failure:

1. When notes are triggered rapidly (intervals under 50-200 ms), the system fails to complete the Release cycle and return to the idle (IDLE) state.
2. The new Attack cycle begins from a residual voltage level (approximately 50% or 5V) carried over from the previous cycle.
3. Result: The Attack phase is partially or completely ignored. Sound appears instantly without smooth fade-in, making the following impossible:
   • Creating smooth arpeggios.
   • Implementing legato.
   • Correct operation in polyphonic mode with fast passages.

Technical Conclusion: The problem stems from an architectural defect in the State Machine of the stock ADSR module. The module lacks a clear IDLE state and cannot handle fast, consecutive Gate signals. This defect cannot be patched and requires a complete module replacement.

RESOLUTION PLAN

1. Immediate Actions:
   • The stock ADSR module will be completely removed from the project.
   • Development is underway to create a new ADSR module from scratch, featuring robust state logic and protection against failures from rapid Gate signal repetition.
2. Timeline:
   • The fix will be released in version Draw Synth 2.1.9.
   • Previous versions (2.0.0 - 2.1.0) will be updated after the core issue is resolved.

USER RECOMMENDATIONS

• Until version 2.1.9 is released, avoid scenarios involving rapidly repeated notes.
• For predictable results, use short Release values or operate in monophonic mode.
